Abstract
In order to enhance the remanence of brushless permanent magnet motors, bonded anisotropic Halbach ring magnets have been produced by orienting anisotropic NdFeB magnet powder during the injection moulding process to facilitate their subsequent impulse magnetisation with the required Halbach field distribution. The paper describes an integrated design of magnet powder aligning system and brushless motor, both using anisotropic Halbach cylinders, and investigates the influence of design parameters on the performance of brushless motors with/without rotor back iron, respectively. Optimal designs are deduced within the same space envelope as the conventional motor
