Abstract
We studied the contractility of smooth muscle fibers of the urinary bladder. The isometric force was length dependent and the maximum shortening velocity was not. We tested three variables, passive force, optimum length and slack length, to estimate the length of the contractile element and concluded that the slack length is preferable as a reference length in smooth muscle
