Abstract :
A single-chip smart power IC for fluorescent lamp ballast line applications contains a 1200 V vertical DMOS transistor with a control circuit. The chip is used as a five-terminal device to allow control of class-E circuitry. The 14 mm/sup 2/ chip can handle 15 W input power at line voltages from 50 to 240 V. The chip is based on SIMOX technology optimized for high temperatures and high-blocking voltages of the DMOS.
