Abstract :
The sense of direction in artificial space (virtual space) using an HMD (Head Mounted Display) was investigated in this report. Trials were conducted under various conditions, and the subject´s sense of direction was evaluated. The results showed that the integration of optical flow is difficult for human beings. Further, it was suggested that an internal map of the environment is important to one´s ability to recognize the surrounding spatial conditions
