Abstract
The field of software agents is a rapidly developing in computer science. The need for agent reusability is now being felt in various applications and environments. Design patterns provide solutions to rapidly building agents in a contextual problem. Various patterns have been developed and documented for both single and multiagent systems (MAS). This paper discusses one such pattern (agent launch pattern) that was developed for instantiating agents in federated collaborative virtual workspace (FCVW). FCVW is our extension of Mitre´s CVW which is a collaborative virtual environment where agents are created and performed important tasks. This paper focuses on the agent pattern developed for FCVW agent framework using the deduction approach. The extensions provided to the pattern ensure reusability across agent applications and environments
