Abstract
The present study aims at a deeper understanding of the relationship between the service innovation performance and their business strategy in terms of Miles and Snow´s strategic typology including prospectors, analyzers, defenders and reactors. A survey of 192 Chinese knowledge intensive business services was used to collect data that were analyzed through variance analysis and multiple comparison. Results indicate that the service innovative performance vary in the relation to the firms´ strategic orientation. Firms with a reactor orientation have lower innovative performance than firms with other strategy orientation. There is no significant difference in innovative performance between firms with prospector, analyzer and defender orientation.
