Abstract :
The abilities of fuzzy inference methods in modeling complicated systems are applied to electromagnetics. The very popular and well known monopole antenna is chosen as a general example and a fast, simple and accurate fuzzy model for its input impedance is made by introducing a new point of view to impedance basic parameters. It is established that a surprisingly little number of input data points is sufficient to make a full model and also the system behavior (dominant rules) are saved as simple membership functions. In the paper, a brief review of the established fuzzy based modeling method is explained and the results of its input impedance model are mentioned. The derived system knowledge as simple membership functions and rules are applied to a thin-angled monopole to confirm the method and evaluate the derived knowledge. In the last step the spatial membership function concept is used to combine the resulting information of the two previous cases to predict the input impedance of a thick-angled monopole. The modeling results are compared with the measured or conventionally calculated ones in all cases. Finally, an interpretation of the established parameters and modeling method are discussed to generalize the method for impedance like curves conceptually
