Abstract
This paper presents an approach of extending Arena simulation model with High Level Architecture (HLA) distributed federation simulation capabilities. By comparing the execution flow of an Arena model with that of a HLA federate, a general approach to adapting Arena model into HLA was proposed within the scope of the Type I Interoperability Reference Model. And an adapter architecture was designed to simplify the communications between Arena model and HLA/RTI. An experiment is implemented to validate the correctness of the proposed approach.
