Abstract
Some of the problems developing a 1-3 piezocomposite for medical and NDT imaging are examined. In the case of piezocomposite plates, lateral resonances are generated by multiple Bragg scattering of Lamb waves. Plate samples in polyurethane-PZT5A have been prepared with a ceramic square rod geometry. The individual elements are excited by electrical and ultrasound pulses. The electrical cross-coupling characteristics are analysed. We identified two separate cross-coupling waves and saw the origin of the lateral waves which produce multiple Bragg scattering
