Abstract :
The European Network of Excellence ISIS (http://www.ist-isis.org/) addresses low-cost access and edge optical network equipment, service-enabling technologies and platforms for increased bandwidth capacity, and advanced optical-wireless network technology exploiting the millimeter-wave bands. This paper will relate some of the main achievements that have been obtained up to now within this network concerning both system and component approaches in the above mentioned thematic fields.
