Abstract
Effects of different trellis coded modulation (TCM) methods on land mobile radio systems performance improvement are analyzed. Two commonly used techniques are chosen: TCM 8-PSK and TCM 16-QAM. For the sake of comparison it is assumed that transmitted signal energy is the same for both considered cases. Thus, the generalized mathematical model for bit error rate calculations is modified enabling the right approach in determining precise level of mobile radio system performance improvement for both TCM methods
