Abstract :
The paper describes the decrease of stability in optical WAN-data amplifiers (beyond the the current standard of about 10 GB/s) with over-all negative feedback caused among others by phase shifting and time-delay depending on geometric lengths in the circuit lay-out. The interdependencies between open loop and closed loop gain will be shown in the cases of a transimpedance stage (TIS) and an unity gain amplifier (EF) with an inner transistor amplification of gi,DC=10 and a cut-off frequency of f0=10 GHz
