Abstract :
Priority Processing (PP) describes an efficient way to adapt the processing of software based video algorithms to the available resources of programmable platforms. Here, the processing order is determined based on the importance of the input picture content. Furthermore the processing can be interrupted at any time and the image can be send to output. In this way, real-time processing can be guaranteed. At the same time, the typically limited platform resources are properly targeted to achieve the best possible output quality. We clarify the principle on the example of an PP-deinterlacing algorithm. This paper presents the measured deinterlacing output quality dependent on available (limited) processing time.
