Abstract :
The work of monitoring of dangerous goods which is being undertaken within the CEC´s Advanced Transport Telematics Program is discussed, and the work being undertaken within the FRAME (Freight Management in Europe) is described. The FRAME project undertook a major analysis of user requirements, clearly defined these, and then proceeded with a functional and system design. The legislative framework, commercial benefit and cost, and institutional support are factors involved in the implementation of any architecture which is used to monitor dangerous goods. The system described is cognizant of all these factors.
