Abstract :
A multiple constraint approach has been developed that can address the radar adaptive nulling process. The multiple constraints are established by employing the uniformly weighted array pattern for the array with the same number of elements as there are adaptive weights. Multiple points on the nonadapted array factor are chosen as look-direction constraints. The approach allows look-direction constraints to be established over a finite beamwidth while maintaining the ability to adaptively null jammers in the sidelobe region. Although the mainbeam gain can be degraded if the signal amplitude is too large, this does not appear to be a serious limitation for practical radar processing cases.
