Abstract :
Recently, a line has emerged: on one side computer applications working productively for electric utilities; and on the other side computer applications posing a burden for the utility. Setting clear objectives and research will assure a utility of being on the productive side of the line. Computer systems that work well for one utility may not work well for another. Electric utilities are different in many ways with the result that software applications should be examined for applicability to a given systems operation
