Abstract :
The design of a robust power system stabilizer using both structured and unstructured uncertainty representations is considered in this paper. The structure singular value (SSV) optimization technique also known as mu-synthesis is used to design a controller that achieves a robust performance in presence of system´s uncertainties. The robust performance is achieved when the structured singular value of the augmented closed-loop system is less than one. To solve this problem, the D-K iteration approach is used which gives a lower and upper bound of mu. Simulation results are presented to show that the designed mu-PSS achieves a better robust performance over a wide range of operating conditions as compared to the conventional PSS (CPSS) and the Hinfin-PSS
