Abstract :
Cross-talk is an important component of array transducer performance. It directly affects low level ring down, and limits aperture and steering angles. This paper describes a method of analysis which helps to sort out the sources and paths of acoustic cross-talk to allow improved array design. A linear array was built up in a step by step fashion with cross-talk measured at each step. Standard gain-phase testing and a novel cross-talk analysis method using time waveforms were both used to describe the cross-talk. Results demonstrate the contributions of cross-talk through the backing and through the kerf filler at each level of construction
