Abstract
This paper proposes a novel approach to line selection in the context of single-phase earthed fault in a neutral point noneffectively grounded system. This method, by defining the effective ranges for many line selection algorithms, effectively combines many line selection algorithms and gives play to their complementarities. It, by taking into account the characteristic that the system can operate with fault, makes full use of the fault information, which improves the correct rate of line selection. Dynamic simulation and field-recorded data with this method indicate that the method can meet the practical requirements.
