Abstract :
Effective, efficient methods for "lecture-style" courses was considered in the first part of the workshop. The wisdom of the participants was tapped to develop ideas for classes. Methods to improve testing and grading were explored. This part was concluded with an interactive question-answer session. The second part of the workshop considers student learning and approaches to tap into the vast untapped reservoir of student involvement. This part includes motivation, teaching approaches and extra-curricular activities. The final part focuses on teaching students how-to-learn and the development of classes that do this
