  • Abstract
A fully integratable circuit topology for a radio frequency mixer is presented. The circuit offers simultaneous low power and low voltage operation. The mixer topology described is useful for CMOS, bipolar, and GaAs applications. Modulated coupled impedances are used instead of commutating devices to create the mixing operation; complementary device types are not required. Circuit operation can occur down to the V/sub on/ voltage level of the constituent devices; 1 V operation is practical. Unlike other recent low voltage RF architectures, the technique allows the required power to scale down in proportion to the reduced voltage supply.
