Abstract :
This study examines the horizontal cell´s linearity over a limited dynamic range and possible inhibitory and excitatory pathways from the three types of cones which make up this cell´s chromatic response. This is accomplished by recombining the first-order Weiner kernels corresponding to the three types of cones to predict the step response of a horizontal cell to simulation by monochromatic stimuli. The horizontal cell was stimulated with white-noise-modulated chromatic light to obtain the first-order Weiner kernels for the three primary colors (red, green, and blue). The kernels derived from the data allowed a close approximation of the step response of the horizontal cell to monochromatic stimuli in the red, green, and blue regions of the visible spectrum.<>
