Abstract :
This research proposes a new balanced amplifier based on a coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure with conductor backed ground-plane hybrids. The amplifier has been designed and built by utilizing BJTs on a microwave substrate. The experimental results of the proposed amplifier agree very well with simulation. The amplifier gain of ~7 dB and the large bandwidth of ⩾600 MHz have been achieved at the operating frequency of 1.8 GHz. These results show the feasibility of applying the CPW balanced amplifier with backed ground-plane hybrids in microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits and systems
