  • Abstract
This paper presents the broadband dipole on a u-shaped cross-sectional ground plane antenna. Its element contributes from copper on FR4 material. Poles are the rectangular patch that is chamfered at the both corner near feeding point. This antenna provides an average gain of 8.0 dBi at the HPBW of 90deg. The front-to-back ratio is greater than 20 dB on the ground plane of 160 times 140 mm2 and height of 30 mm across the frequency range of 1.6 - 2.6 GHz (VSWR<1.5:1). The antenna is fed at the central between poles by a 50 Omega coaxial cable. This antenna is suitable for fabrication as a low-cost base station antenna with a linear polarization of DCS, PCS, UMTS, and ISM bands.
