Abstract :
The increasing user needs and expectations enhanced the ever dynamic market of portable devices. This contributed significantly to rapid hardware updates around the clock. Software developers ought to accommodate such changes into their applications and new techniques should be developed to make this process easier, faster, and more efficient. Building generic software modules helps developers minimize software changes to achieve better time-to-market goals. In this paper we present a proposal of a framework that is feature rich, extensible and that accommodates new devices by employing the virtual device concept. The case study demonstrates the extensibility and flexibility of the framework.
