Abstract :
Once students willing to get computer literacy can type quickly without looking at their keyboards, they probably do not wish to develop their typing skills any further. One of the reasons why this happens is that there has been no defined typing skill index. If the level of your skill has been made clear, you feel up to doing a typing exercise. The paper describes that the fluctuation 1/f (frequency) of a time series of standard deviations computed from key tapping times produces a unique typing skill index as follows. We made a software program for Windows for the purpose of gathering the data using the sample English sentences consisting of 400 characters. With the help of Fourier analysis of the data, we found out that a negative slope of the regression line on the biaxial logarithmic scales can be regarded as a typing skill index. By using the index, we can also find the keyboard fitted to each human finger´s stroking mechanism
