Abstract :
Discusses the past, present, and future of machine vision technology, emphasizing its practical aspects. Four types of machine vision technology based on pattern matching, feature parameter, window, and slit-light methods are now being widely used in industry. However, recent applications require more effective use of knowledge-based processing, combined with application-specific methods. Study is thus required for the future progress of machine vision, especially in such areas as sensor fusion, real-time processing, and visualization/enhancement technology. Some new future applications are also discussed
