  • Abstract
The surface nuclear magnetic resonance (SNMR) is an emerging hydrogeophysical exploration technology. This article reports the first neuro-fuzzy algorithm developed for adaptive nonlinear processing of SNMR measurements. Improvements of such an algorithm are currently in progress using type-2 neuro-fuzzy and fuzzy-wavelet-networks. We think that information technology is key to further advance the capability of SNMR. For example, developing the radio-frequency electronics at lower cost; developing multichannel signal processing for multi-receiver (or multichannel) SNMR; developing fuzzy inference systems (FIS) to integrate SNMR information with other complimentary information; developing GIS for SNMR surveys at regional scale to map groundwater resources.
