Abstract :
This paper describes the development of an L-band satellite-tracking mobile-vehicular antenna system for communications and navigation projects. The antenna system consists of an electronically steered antenna array that uses six commercial microstrip antennas and an antenna controller that tracks the satellite as the vehicle moves. The performance and characteristics of the antenna RF subsystem together with the antenna tracking control subsystem are described and discussed. Laboratory measurements and some field tests of the adaptive antenna are presented
