Abstract :
PTPd is the system of realizing Precision Time synchronization Protocol (PTP) with the software. The PTP system is expected to achieve the synchronization accuracy in sub-microsecond range. Desktop personal computer and embedded system are two devices to demonstrate the traceable time comparisons. The question is whether the physical oscillator of desktop computer accords with the demands for the PTP system? This research utilizes Time Interval Counter (TIC) which directly refers to national standard frequency of Taiwan, UTC(TL), to measure the physical oscillators of a desktop computer and an embedded system. The measurement results of TIC are used to evidence the measurement results of PTPd. From our data we find that (1) oscillators of embedded system and desktop computer all accord with the demand of PTPd and (2) the time trace via PTPd is appropriate.
