Abstract
In this paper, Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to optimize the proportional and integral gains of PI speed controller in the Indirect Field Oriented Control (IFOC) of an Induction Motor (IM) drive. The control performance of the ICA-optimized PI speed controller and the GA-optimized PI speed controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Simulation results show that optimizing the PI speed controller of IM through ICA is the best performance compared to GA-optimized PI speed controller of IM.
