Abstract
An aquatic observatory with an array of rapidly deployable and reconfigurable buoys, such as the Great Lakes Urban Coastal Observing System (GLUCOS) in development at the Great Lakes WATER Institute, requires operating and configuring instruments from many different manufacturers. Building a software system to simplify the deployment of a wide variety of instruments is one major goal of GLUCOS. By expanding and integrating software programs already in use at the Great Lakes WATER Institute, we are keeping the software development in step with the development of the GLUCOS hardware
