Abstract
We investigated the single step third harmonic generation in CsLiB/sub 6/O/sub 10/ (CLBO) crystals for the first time. Since CLBO crystals, like BBO, possess excellent properties for UV generation, they are good candidates for the single step third harmonic generation. We used a pulsed Nd:YAG laser as a light source, which operates with the pulse width of 9 ns and the repetition rate of 10 Hz. Excellent quality crystals of CLBO have been grown from supercooled melts at constant temperature in the authors´ laboratory. The crystal was cut and polished so that the effective /spl chi//sup 3/ may have the maximum value for type I phase-matching configuration.
