Abstract :
In this paper, the performances of two MIMO channel estimation methods, the scaled least square (SLS) and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE), have been investigated using a two-ring double-bounce channel model representing a signal scattering environment. It has been shown that both SLS and MMSE methods offer a better performance at higher values of the Rician factor K, meaning that the presence of the line of sight signal component has a positive effect on the channel estimation. When comparing the two methods, the MMSE is more accurate when the receive antenna spacing is small. The SLS method is not sensitive to the antenna spacing. The receive antenna orientations do not affect the SLS and MMSE methods.
