Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of closed-loop stability-enhancing control of shunt FACTS devices. As the feedback signals, rotor angles and speed deviations of the generators have been used as supplied by a wide-area phasor measurement system. Control laws have been derived for nonlinear multi-machine system model using direct Lyapunov method with the aim to enforce the fastest possible decay of total system energy and therefore the fastest possible return to a steady-state equilibrium point. Validity and robustness of the proposed state-variable control has been confirmed by computer simulation for a multi-machine test system.
