  • Abstract
This paper proposes a novel residual prediction scheme. The object of the prediction in general video coding is only the original video data. In order to improve the coding efficiency, we extend the object of the prediction to the residual data. The proposed scheme performs the second prediction for the residual data of transform/quantization. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can save up to 9% of bit-rate without peak signal to noise ratio degradation.
