Abstract :
This paper compares three programs for the analysis of microwave circuits. JADMIC2 is the cheapest and is the least demanding in terms of platform hardware and software. Furthermore, the source code is provided so that the user may amend or add elements. The main limitation is the primitive graphics. ARRL Radio Designer is a stripped-down version of Compact and is the cheapest Windows program. However, it is severely limited for microwave circuit analysis by the range of available distributed circuit elements. Eclipse is the most expensive of the three programs and is more akin to Touchstone with the best user interface. It is also the most comprehensive of the three programs, the main limitation being that it cannot analyse noise performance
