Abstract :
The Electrical Engineering Bachelors Program at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez (UPRM) underwent a successful accreditation cycle in 2002. EE curricular revision has always been an on-going effort at UPRM within its areas of concentration. Each EE area was in charge of the revision, creation and administration of area courses. The self-study report generated by the ABET EE Committee brought structure and additional instruments for the implementation of curricular revisions including the creation of an EE Curricular Revision Committee to evaluate recommendations and execute them if approved. This paper presents an overview of our curricular revision plan, some of the assessment instruments used and the changes implemented to meet the goals established in 2002. The approved revisions make the EE curriculum more flexible, provide a framework to speed up future revisions, strengthen traditional EE areas while providing room for new areas, and present a more integrated perspective of EE to students
