  • Abstract
In recent years, several application schemes based on the four wave mixing (FWM) effect in an optical parametric loop mirror (PALM), such as wavelength interchange, wavelength conversion and spectral inversion, have been proposed. The generated FWM wave in the PALM can be separated from both the input signal and control beams without any optical band pass filter. It appears to be relatively strong compared to the input signal and control beams used in those schemes. In the paper, we demonstrate an all optical demultiplexing of 10 GHz optical input pulses into 2.5 GHz pulses and of 20 GHz optical input pulses into 2.5 GHz pulses using the PALM. We have successfully demonstrated an all optical demultiplexing scheme using a PALM. The demultiplexing scheme provided a demultiplexed output based on the FWM beam generation and well separated from the input signal and control waves even without an optical filter.
