Abstract :
The paper deals with numerical modeling of the wave processes in a three-phase line. The substantial part of the computer program is solution of a system of six wave equations by means of the Wendroff approximation. The computations allow determining overvoltage and overcurrent phenomena occurring at a strike of the lightning to the line or at various fault states on lines. This information represents a basis for safe dimensioning of lines and their insulation systems as well as setting of its overvoltage and overcurrent protective devices.
