Abstract :
A portable blood glucose sensor is described. The instruments uses a polarographic method already widely accepted in clinical assay devices. The accuracy of the measurement and its speed and simplicity of use are achieved primarily by a specially constructed, proprietary disposable membrane that ensures a reliable electrooxidation current. The electrodes are Pt against Ag/AgCl. The surface characteristics of the chlorided electrode that give the best polargraphic response are discussed. Electronic methods for sensor signal processing and data recording are described. Patient data are read by a clinical workstation which analyzes the data and provides hard copy to assist the managing physician.<>
