Abstract :
Preliminary version of a power system simulation software package is described in this paper. The design of the software integrated a user-interface with a database and MATLAB routines. The input and output data are stored as EXCEL tables and can be retrieved by the user. The user-interface is developed using VISUAL BASIC and enables the user to select the simulation of interest. The interface presents a smooth transition between the various parts. A number of MATLAB routines including MATPOWER from Cornell University execute power flow and other simulation. The database consists of the standard IEEE test systems. The design is modular in form permitting addition of any other analysis routine developed by the user. The ultimate aim is to make the software available for use in the cyberspace.
