Abstract :
This paper presents a simplified engineering method for lightning performance analyze and improvement of overhead distribution lines performance. The method has two parts: statistic lightning simulation and induced overvoltage simulation. The results show where it is necessary to install surge arresters. A valuation of the improvement using this technique, according to the engineering approach adopted, in four feeders owned by AES-Eletropaulo - Brazil is presented and discussed.
