Abstract :
With growing quality in image acquisition, image enhancement techniques are more needed than ever. If the dynamic range at acquisition is large, it is not possible to perceive all image details upon simple displaying of the image. Post-processing is needed for dynamic range compression and better visualization. Multi-scale image enhancement algorithms have proved their use in medical imaging for radiographs. We present a multi-scale method for enhancement of color images. The method equalizes image details at multiple scales in the image, resulting in effective dynamic range compression and sharpening of faint image details
