Abstract
Rectangular parallel plate capacitors used as decoupling capacitors are considered where the supply pins of integrated circuits are connected. In order to calculate electromagnetic interference an analytical solution is applied. The used solution which describes infinite circular plate capacitors enables one to calculate rectangular parallel plate capacitors using the method of images. In opposition to numerical FDTD-simulation, analytical calculation offers tremendous speed increase. For optimization an age-controlled evolutionary strategy is applied
