Abstract
This paper investigates the application of guided evolutionary simulated annealing to the problem of optimal substation size and placement, and the optimal routing of power distribution feeders. The principles of guided evolutionary simulated annealing are discussed and a model proposed for solution of the problem. The success of the method is demonstrated through computer simulations
