Abstract :
The study of single-phase induction motors shows that a main problem is the centrifugal switch. To solve this problem we proposed a controlled dimmer circuit that works by the same idea of the mechanical element, with time disabling operation. The starting current, however, is still high. With a review of the topology, we propose an inexpensive soft starter to use with the SPIM, maintaining starting torque above nominal torque.
