Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to present the levels of extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields levels from previous studies and to compare them to new guidelines. Four different power system environments were studied: transmission and distribution lines, substations, distribution substations and indoor mounting in the buildings. Results were gathered together to find out the essential sources of electric and magnetic fields in living and work environments. Then the results were compared to exposure guidelines by International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). The electric or magnetic field exposure guidelines were exceeded only at the 400 kV substation in this study. There the guideline for occupational exposure to electric fields, 10 kV/m, was exceeded
