Abstract :
The error probability of a 60 GHz M-ary pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) system in multiple access interference is examined. Four types of pulse waveforms are investigated, all of which conform to the IEEE 802.15.3c transmit spectral mask if the pulse shape parameters are chosen properly. It is shown that Gaussian pulses have a wider relative 10 dB bandwidth for the same pulse duration. In addition, M-ary PAM systems using Gaussian pulses have a better multiple access error probability than with other pulse shapes.
