Abstract :
This paper presents a review of RFID tag antenna design and some examples. After introduction of related theory, three design examples are provided. First, the inductively-coupled tag antenna is presented for its capability of matching to any commercial chips with simple adjustment of two design parameters. Second, the inductively-coupled tag antenna having isotropic RCS patterns is presented. Its measured RCS difference in all angles is only about 3 dB. Finally, a tag structure mountable on metallic planes is presented. Besides, some important design factors such as the tag bandwidth, tag impedance mismatch, and read range are considered in as much quantitative manner as possible.
